Culnady Primary School, Maghera

Special visitors

12th Apr 2019

We had a special visit from Mr Earl Gray this term. He had come across an old Culnady Primary School register book with the names of his dad Mr David Gray and his uncle Mr Fred Gray in the boys register. Both past pupils of Culnady Primary School served in the RAF in World War 2, meeting in Malta after many years apart.

Mr Gray and his friend Mr Bryan Johnston came into school on 25 March to deliver a talk to Primary 4-7. It was a fascinating insight into the Blitz in Belfast and the work of both their parents in World War 2 .

A big thank you to both men for the preparation and resources they brought to show the children . The photos they shared have left a lasting impression on the minds of the children and staff alike.

Staff have poured over the register and found the names of their own relatives. Thank you so much.
